Thanks to the placement and layering of fabric layers with poorly finished edges, the shoe boasts a deconstructed and unfinished look. In each of these it is possible to glimpse the original mesh layer, topped by a soft suede paneling that acts almost as a protection to the upper. The lived-in and semi-destroyed aesthetic of the New Balance 2002R "Protection Pack" is further highlighted by the tongue of the shoe, finished in raw cut with the internal sponge layer exposed. Finally, the sneaker rests on the ubiquitous, and equally comfortable, ABZORB midsole.
